Both foreign and native audience members were captivated by the performances.
The president of The International Yoga Federation (IYF) dear Mr. Akif Manaf stated: “Yoga contests have been organized worldwide for years. In Turkey, these competitions have been held since 3 years. They are garnering more interest and the number of performances are increasing day by day. We have tried since many years to explain that Yoga is a sport. Yoga is a universal sport. It is the foundation of all sports. We are organizing Yoga choreography competitions and tournaments in our country at the international level in order for people to benefit from Yoga. The reason for organizing contests on Yoga choreographies is to draw attention to the contribution of Yoga toward a healthy life and to show that Yoga is the dance of the universe. Yoga is a dance – a dance that lets people forget themselves and be themselves again. The athlete performs Yoga like a dance and showcases their skills. This is what contests are about.”
He also said, “In the future, Yoga will take part in the Olympics and their efforts for this will continue.” IYF officials who organized the championship also said that when the sport is done within a certain discipline, it is successful. When Yoga is practiced with a certain discipline, it provides body, mind, and spirit integration and reveals the human’s natural equilibrium and discipline.
