Sitting down in the hairdresser’s chair and entrusting your beloved locks to a hairstylist can be nerve-wracking enough. So imagine if your stylist had claws?
THE CLAWZ GENERATION is born! …do you have your Clawz hand yet?
No, this isn’t something from a nightmare or a twisted fairytale, these scary looking accessories are called hair claws, and they’re the latest hairstyling trend to sweep the globe!

Invented by Valentino Lo Sauro, the ‘Clawz’ are worn on the hairstylist’s own fingers.
The initial cut is done with scissors. Then, the hair claws are used in the final stage of the cut to distribute weight in the hair. Running their hand through the hair, the stylist cuts with the hair claws as they go, and the result is a more textured cut than can be achieved with traditional scissors.

Stylists at ‘The Hair Theatre Salon’ in the USA specliaise in the technique. They claim it changes the life of any of their clients who use them!
Leena Godier, who is part of the salon in St. Louis, said in a post on Facebook, “The clawz are one of the most amazing tools you can use. They are used for inside cutting and razor cutting…Once you have been clawed it changes your life and all of our clients love them.”
As well as creating more texture, the hair claws can also add volume to your ‘do. Kristin Goodman, who is trained to use hair claws says, “These are amazing for someone with fine or thinning hair to help create volume without over layering”.
However, don’t expect your local hairdresser to swap their scissors for claws anytime soon! Hair stylists have to be properly trained and certified to use the claws. Probably for the best now we’ve seen them!
